lyrics
My hope was of the fragile kind, it couldn’t stand the test of time
The moment that it cracked it ached, it shut me out for years, and when it
hit the ground and disappeared, I wished that I had never seen
her beauty before my eyes
Cause that’s when I began to loose myself
If I could live those years again, I’d go somewhere I’ve never been
I’d take some chances that I didn’t dare until I found myself
just waiting for the judge to speak her mind and set me free
now I rewind and then I realise, a verdict wasn’t up to any judge
It was only up to me
And maybe there will always be another wish that breaks, and then you’re
free to choose again, and after all that was the moment when I
learned to raise my head and seek out distances my eyes can’t capture
Somewhere there across the ocean
there’s a land just waiting to be seen
All you sailors and you seekers
How was the shore you had on mind
what was the wish you left behind
when you cut the ropes and drifted far away, to the Sea, to the Sea
I am not a sailor but I’ve seen a beach or two
it is a place on earth where one can very easily be blinded by
the moon or by the sun, and when the sea is strong and warm
and all the fear you had is gone, then you can easily
be taken far away and say some things that you were never meant to say
to someone who was never meant to be there anyway
The word is spoken now, you cannot take it back
and she will smile the smile you wished to see
and when you look at her you find yourself unable to object
And then your lips start moving slowly
you sing a song that’s wholy
a song you saved for moments on a beach like this
and for a smile like hers
and it’s too late to turn around and walk away
And when there’s nothing more to sing or say
the sea has got a melody
that whispers all the words she needs to hear
The words are of a fragile kind
they make you analyze your mind
to see if they left a trace behind
something you can trust this time
And you hope she’s feeling just the same
and you wanna see her face again
you hope the judge that speaks today
will treat you like an honest man
Like an honest man
